KULPMONT — Willard Ramph, 95, passed away Friday, April 18, 2014, in his home at 1343 Poplar St.
He was born Nov. 10, 1918, in Kulpmont, a son of the late Lewis and Cena (Heisey) Ramph.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy
On Jan. 10, 1942, he was married to the former Edna Miles. She preceded him in death May 21, 2005, ending a marital union of 63 years.
Willard worked as an independent coal miner and also as a construction laborer. His favorite topic of conversation was of the days he owned and operated his coal company with his brother.
Surviving are a son, Willard J. Ramph Jr. and his wife, Mary Ann, of Jersey Shore; a daughter, Linda M. Begis and her husband, Ed, of Kulpmont; a son, Barry L. Ramph and his wife, Ann Marie, of Kulpmont, and his loving caregiver and grandson, Timothy Ramph, who resided with him, as well as his cat, Little One, who was faithful and stayed by his side; his grandchildren, Melanie Strileckis, Heidi English, Willard Ramph III, Karen Franz, Edwin J. Begis Jr. and Jennifer Stahr, Timothy Ramph, Stacy Ramph, Nicole Ramph; a very special niece, Dorothy Ramph, and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Wilbert, Floyd and Melvin, and a sister, Katherine Deitrich. He was the last of his immediate family.
RAMPH — Willard Ramph, 95, of 1343 Poplar St., Kulpmont. A funeral service will be held at noon Thursday at the C.J. Lucas Funeral Home Inc., 1053 Chestnut St., Kulpmont, C.J. Lucas, supervisor, with the Rev. Alan Langelli of Grace Chapel, Shamokin, officiating. Burial will be in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
