DORNSIFE - Carl D. Kahler, 80, of Dornsife, passed away Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, at his home.
He was born Sept. 4, 1937, in Trevorton, a son of the late Lee and Jenny (Crissinger) Kahler.
He was a 1957 graduate of Trevorton High School. He served in U.S. Army from Dec. 7, 1960, to Dec. 7, 1962.
Carl was married on June 25, 1960, in St. Peter's Lutheran Church Red Cross to the former Doris Klock, who survives.
He was a resident of Dornsife the past 57 years. He retired as a machinist from AMP Inc., Selinsgrove. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, the Red Cross and the Dalmatia Legion Post No. 504.
Carl enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, traveling, camping, bowling, fishing, meeting friends for breakfast, family gatherings and working on cars.
In addition to his wife, Doris, Carl is survived by three sons, Daniel Kahler and wife, Maxine, of Dornsife, Timothy Kahler and wife, Joni, of Poquoson, Virginia, and Andrew Kahler and wife, Patricia, of Dornsife; a daughter, Catherine Erb and husband, Bryan, of Sunbury; nine grandchildren, Courtney Kahler, Adrienne Bobb and husband, Mark, Zachary Kahler, Laura Kahler, Ryan Erb, Elizabeth Erb, Melissa Davignon, Caitlyn Tait and husband, DaKotah, and Emily Foltz; five great-grandchildren, Addison Kahler, Finnley Bobb, Maxon Davignon, Bentley Sessions and Daniel Tait; a sister, June Reitz, of Selinsgrove; and mother-in-law, Vinnie Klock, of Northumberland.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Kenneth, Paul and John Kahler.
KAHLER - Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 235 Schwaben Creek Road, Dornsife, with Rev. Karis Hagen officiating. Viewing will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, at the church and 10 a.m. until the time of service Thursday. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Carl's memory to St. Peter's Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 235 Schwaben Creek Road, Dornsife, PA 17823. Funeral arrangements are by Robert G. Foust Jr. Funeral Home, 841 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton, PA 17881.
