Louise Wronoski Obituary

ARDMORE — Louise S. (Kurtz) Wronoski, of Ardmore, born in Shamokin, passed away Friday, Feb. 22, 2013.

She was the wife of the late Walter J. Wronoski, daughter of the late John A. and Gizella A. (Elko) Kurtz, sister of Jack Kurtz (deceased), Elizabeth Foresman (deceased) and Charles Kurtz.

She is survived by her three children: John W. (Heide Hatry), Joan L. and Joyce S. (James Woodburn) and three grandsons: Samuel and James Wronoski (sons of John Wronoski and Jennifer Kline) and Michael Woodburn. She was predeceased by her son James J. (Heather Sokollu).

Louise was born and raised in Shamokin. She graduated from Coal Township High School in 1949, a "Miner 49er" whose motto was "Find a way or make a way," and she did.

Louise applied this philosophy throughout her life. She met her husband, Walter, in Shamokin, married, and settled in the Ardmore area. She was a mother in the heroic style: she loved each of her children deeply and equally, and each of them felt that he or she was the special one; many of their friends could also count on her for some extra-curricular mothering when they needed it. As wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker she was indefatigable, selfless, profoundly supportive, and infinitely giving.

An extraordinary seamstress, she won numerous awards for her design and craftsmanship and was known for being able to examine a garment and flawlessly duplicate its design. Those who didn't particularly know her might identify her as the woman who always wore the intriguing hats — often of her own creation. She and Walter recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary, just days prior to his death.

The youngest of four, Louise was known to her siblings as "Babe." She was "Aunt Cutie" to her nieces. She was the woman everyone came to for her insight, sound intuition, wit, wisdom, her open heart and warm smile. To all who knew her, she gave the gift of unconditional love.

Louise was very active in St. Denis Catholic Church in Havertown. She organized and supported various fund-raising activities for the church, school, and community, and was a devoted participant in Bible study and Rosary groups at St. Denis. She had a rich spiritual life and considered every activity a form of prayer, often accompanying her work with delightful song, which she raised in celebration of life. She was a gift. Her dynamic personality and big heart endeared Louise forever to all she met.

Joan, Joyce, John and families -
I had plenty of heartfelt conversations with Louise over the years. She made me feel like one of her own. When I told my friends of her death (they never knew her by name), she was always "the Lady with the hat!". I'll pray for her your family. She is with the love of her life now. Sincerely, Stephanie, Frank and Paige
