HARRISBURG, Ill. — Alan Henry Janaskie, 68, of 200 Blue Earth Lane, died at 6:50 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at his residence.

He was born in Shamokin, April 20, 1944, where he was raised by his grandparents, Paul and Clara (Ross) Janaskie.
On June 20, 1964, he married the former Ruth Eppelheimer, who survives.
He retired after 20 years of service from the U.S. Air Force, having served during the Vietnam War. He also retired from Boeing Aircraft where he worked as a quality assurance inspector.
He was a member of Harrisburg Lighthouse Baptist Church and was a lifetime member of the California City, Calif., post of Veterans of Foreign Wars.
One of his favorite pastimes was collecting O gauge model trains.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Ruth, are three children, Stephanie Smith, and her husband, Keith, of Lancaster, Calif., Paul Janaskie, and his wife, Kelly, of Carrier Mills, Ill., and Alan Janaskie Jr., of California City, Calif.; three grandchildren, Jacob Janaskie, Summer Janaskie and Jennifer Holmlund, three sisters and a brother.
JANASKIE — Alan Henry Janaskie, 68, of 200 Blue Earth Lane, Harrisburg, Ill. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Felty Funeral Home, Carrier Mills, Ill., with the Rev. Joe Poriot officiating. Military rites will be held by the Carrier Mills and Harrisburg American Legions and the National Guard Ritual Team. There will be no visitation, but friends may gather at the funeral home after 10 a.m.
