SHAMOKIN — Daisy M. Yost, 72, of 5887 State Route 225, passed away Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born in Shamokin, May 8, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Stephen and Lottie (Nye) Shingara.

Daisy was married Dec. 22, 1958, in Shamokin, to Theodore R. "Ding" Yost Sr., who preceded her in death Nov. 8, 2012.

Daisy was a resident of Hunter Station for the past 36 years.

She attended Mahanoy Joint High School.

She was a homemaker and caregiver for many people.

Daisy was a member of St. Patrick Church, Trevorton, and formerly taught religious education.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, and was a special teacher of life skills to many.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Theodore R. Yost Jr., and his wife, April, of Shamokin, Frank Yost, and his wife, Grace, of Coal Township, and Philip Yost, and his wife, Chandra, of Coal Township; two daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda Wasilewski, and her husband, John, of Coal Township, and Charlene Sulouff, and her husband, Richard, of Coal Township; 22 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Edward T. Shingara, of Sunbury RR, Fred Shingara, and his wife, Marcy, of Paxinos, and Daniel Shingara, and his wife, Jean, of Dornsife; four sisters, Elizabeth Williams, of Sunbury, Christine Yost, of Trevorton Road, Margaret Conrad, and her husband, Steven, of Shamokin, and Sally Shovlin, and her husband, Barry, of Sunbury, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Stephen and Michael Shingara.

YOST — Daisy M. Yost, 72, of 5887 State Route 225, Shamokin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Patrick Church, 331 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton, with the Rev. Adrian Gallagher as celebrant. Viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and from noon to 12:45 p.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Daisy's memory to Suncom Community Unity, 248 Priestley Ave., Northumberland 17857. Robert G. Foust Jr. Funeral Home, 841 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton, has charge of arrangements.
