COAL TOWNSHIP — Dolores Joyce (Zurick) Leonowicz, 87, of 832 Center St., Coal Township, passed away at 12:39 a.m. Monday, April 20, 2015, at Mount Carmel Nursing and Rehabilition Center.
Born Jan. 22, 1928, in Shamokin, she was a daughter of the late Florian Konetski and Madeline Fukecheski. She was a member of the Shamokin High School Class of 1946 and a lifelong resident of the Shamokin-Coal Township area.
She was married to Lawrence Leonowicz, who preceded her in death. She was a housewife, caring for her husband and their children.
She was a member of Our Lady of Hope Church. In her spare time she loved working in the catering department at Knoebels Amusement Resort.
She is survived by four children, Eugene Zurick, of Coal Township, Kenneth Zurick and his wife Patty, of Shamokin, Tom Zurick, of Marysville, and Anne Bowman, of South Carolina; a sister, Connie Harper, of Coal Township; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a sister, Lorrane Washburn; a nephew, Calvin Harper; and a grandson, Robert Bowman.
LEONOWICZ — Dolores Joyce (Zurick) Leonowicz, 87, of 832 Center St., Coal Township. There will be no viewing or hours of calling. Those wishing to attend the Mass of Christian Burial are asked to meet at 9:45 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Hope Holy Spirit Chapel, Coal Township. The service will begin at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Steve Frenier as celebrant. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg. Leonard J. Lucas Jr., supervisor, Leonard J. Lucas Funeral Home Ltd., 120 S. Market St., Shamokin, as charge of the arrangements.

Nanny was an amazing woman. No wondering what was on her mind,
she was happy to tell you exactly the way it was. She will be missed by everyone extended family included. Happy you finally got to go home nanny!

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Delores. She was a great friend to my family and especially my daughter Tishelle. She always thought about us. She will be greatly missed, but Heaven gained a real angel.
