Dreena V. Galgocy

SHAMOKIN — Dreena V. Galgocy, 51, of 1001 E. Sunbury St., died Thursday evening, May 1, 2008, at St. Catherine Medical Center, Fountain Springs. She had been ill for the past few years.

Born in London, England, on Dec. 22, 1956, she was a daughter of Daniel Zablosky and Veronica (O'Dowd) Lukoskie, both of Coal Township.

She was a graduate of Shamokin Area High School.

She was married on Aug. 22, 1984, to Joseph J. Galgocy Jr., who survives.

Dreena worked as a certified nursing assistant at Mountain View Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Coal Township. She later managed the Dollar General Store, both at the Anthra Plaza and on Independence Street in Shamokin. She worked most recently as a home health aide with Compass Rose Health Care, Kulpmont.

She was a member of Mother Cabrini Church, Shamokin; Brady Fire Company, Coal Township; and the Sons of Italy and Independence Fire Company, both of Shamokin.

Dreena had many friends and enjoyed playing pool. She loved her family and her pet husky, Cheyenne.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by two sons, Joseph J. Galgocy III of Shamokin, and Ryan Daniel Galgocy, who attends Bloomsburg University; two brothers, Daniel Zablosky of Trevorton, and Norm Lukoskie of Coal Township; a sister, Kathleen Sabotchick of Coal Township, nieces, nephews, and a dear friend, Steve Wisloski of Ranshaw. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Tori Ann, who died in infancy.

GALGOCY — Dreena V. Galgocy, 51, of 1001 E. Sunbury St., Shamokin. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Mother Cabrini Church, Shamokin. Burial will follow at Transfiguration Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Coal Township. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Stephen A. Chowka Funeral Home, 114 N. Shamokin St., Shamokin.
