Elwood E. "Woody" Huntzinger, 87, died March 16, 2014 at Bryn Mawr Hospital.

He was survived by his wife, Marion Klaus Huntzinger; children, Linda Patrylak, Daniel Huntzinger, Rebecca Hargrove and Amy Huntzinger; a grandson, Jesse Patrylak; brother, Charles Huntzinger, and two sisters, Deanna Dietz and Joan Koppenhaver.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Ruth Knohr Huntzinger, and two brothers, Maynard and Wilber Huntzinger.

He grew up in Hegins, then attended V.M.I. Afterwards, he served in the Army during WWII, and went to Gettysburg College on the GI Bill. He married Ruth Knohr in 1953. The couple relocated to the Philadelphia area to raise a family. He had a distinguished career as a research chemist, obtaining numerous patents for Atlantic Richfield, then Air Products. During these years he became an amateur bowling champ, once scoring a 300 game and winning countless trophies.

He retired in 1981. In 2000, he married Marion Klaus.

A memorial service is planned for April 22, when his ashes will be interred in Klinger's Church Cemetary, Erdman. Anyone wishing to attend may contact the family for details.
