COAL TOWNSHIP — The Lord welcomed Ethel M. Jones, 79, into his arms Saturday, March 2, 2013, after having passed away at home with her children by her side.

Born January 8, 1934, she was a daughter of the late David and Mary (Matsko) Rowe, of Shamokin.
She attended Shamokin Area schools and lived her life in Shamokin-Coal Township caring for her family.
She made many friends working in downtown Shamokin. She worked in Brozman's, JC Penney, and Michael's Clothing Store.
Ethel was an active, lifetime member of Lincoln Street United Methodist Church. After a consolidation, she was a member of First United Methodist Church, Shamokin. She also enjoyed attending St. Peter's UCC in Paxinos with her daughters.
She loved spending time with her family and enjoying her home. She enjoyed working in her backyard and sitting on the patio visiting with family, friends and neighbors. She volunteered at the Salvation Army and held dear the fellowship of her friends while attending Woman's League meetings and other activities. She also cherished her time at Wendy's with her friends. Ethel had many wonderful experiences while traveling in Europe with her sister, Ruth.
Ethel is survived by five children, Mary Deibler, of Shamokin, Susan Krock and husband, Brent, of Elyburg, Michael Jones and wife, Lorene, of Dover, Judy Slaby and husband, Bob, of Kulpmont, and Sandy Jones, of Shamokin; sisters, brothers and their spouses, Ruth Rowe, of Williamsport, Richard Rowe and wife, Anne, of Edgerton, Kan., Dorothy Tyson and husband, Elwood, of Elysburg, Grace Tamkus and husband, Vince, and John Rowe, both of Coal Township.; grandchildren: Heather Drumheiser and husband, Dave, Amy Deibler, Stephanie Kerstetter and husband, Mike, Steven Bielskie Jr. and wife, Amy, Stuart Bielskie and wife, Amanda, Brenda Krock, Patricia McGuffin and husband, David, Danielle Kaminski and husband, Jeff, Jessica Slaby, Robert Slaby Jr.; great-grandchildren, Sara, Rachel and Lauren Drumheiser, Nicole, Michelle and Madison Kerstetter, Angelina and Allie Bielskie, Kayleen Long, Mason and Tripp Bielskie, Cameron Berkheiser, Ryan and Brayden McGuffin and Connor Kaminski; and Grammy Ethel's best buddy, playmate and nurse, Pamela Schu.
In addition to her parents, Ethel was preceded in death by a brother, David Rowe; a granddaughter, Pamela Slaby; a son-in-law, Dave Deibler; a sister-in-law, Louise Rowe; and three nephews, Charles Tamkus and Elwood Tyson III.
We were blessed to have her in our lives. We will cherish our memories and hold her forever in our hearts with love, respect and tenderness.
JONES — Ethel M. Jones, 79, of Coal Township. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, at First United Methodist Church, 100 E. Sunbury St., Shamokin, with the Rev. Zachary Hopple presiding. Interment of Ethel's cremains will be private for her family at St. Peter (Blue Church) Cemetery, Paxinos. A visitation with family members will be held in the church from 12 noon until time of the service. As an expression of sympathy, the family requests memorial contributions be made to First United Methodist Church, 100 E. Sunbury St., Shamokin, Pa., 17872; or The Salvation Army, 1300 W. Spruce St., Coal Township, Pa., 17866; or St. Peter United Church of Christ, Airport Road, Paxinos, Pa., 17860. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to James Kelley Funeral Home, James F. Kelley, Director, 1001 W. Arch St. at Maple Street, Coal Township.
