SUNBURY — Florence L. Sewalk, 89, of Shamokin, passed away Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at ManorCare Health Services.

She was born in Coal Township, Feb. 25, 1923, a daughter of the late Ellsworth and Elva (Heckman) Orner.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph T. Sewalk Sr., Aug. 26, 1986.
She graduated from Coal Township High School in 1940.
Earlier in her life, she was employed as a reservation clerk for the New Haven, Hartford and New York Railroad.
She was a member of The Salvation Army, Coal Township, and its ladies home league.
She enjoyed reading, listening to Christian music, watching polka shows on TV and spending time with her dog, Archie.
Surviving are two children, Janet T. Leshinskie and her husband, Jeffrey J., of Shamokin, and Joseph T. Sewalk Jr. and his wife, Donna M., of Coal Township; three grandchildren, Michael Sewalk and his wife, Leslie, Amy Troy and her husband, Kevin, and Linsey Sewalk; two great-grandchildren, Lauren and Logan Sewalk, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Robert and Richard; three brothers, Herbert, Gilbert and Robert "Pete," and three sisters, Goldie Adams, Viola Gilligbauer and Vivian Derck.
SEWALK — Florence L. Sewalk, 89, of Shamokin. A memorial service will be held at noon Tuesday at The Salvation Army, 1300 W. Spruce St., Coal Township. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Coal Township. Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, Sunbury, has charge of arrangements.
