COAL TOWNSHIP — Grace A. Getchey, 75, of 1814 Maple Ave., formerly of 117 N. Franklin St., Shamokin, and a resident of Serenity Gardens, Kulpmont, for four years, passed away at 12:50 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, while in the company of family members at the home of her son and daughter-in-law.

She was born in Shamokin, May 23, 1937, a daughter of the late Hattie (Radziewicz) and Edward Bartlinski.
A lifetime resident of Shamokin, Grace was educated in St. Stanislaus School and Coal Township High School.
On March 18, 1961, in Coal Township, Grace married John E. "Shine" Getchey, who preceded her in death Oct. 29, 2002.
She was a floor lady at Shroyer's Dress Factory, Shamokin, for many years.
She was a parishioner of the former St. Stanislaus Church, now Mother Cabrini Church, Shamokin.
She loved going to the casinos in Atlantic City and traveling on cruises. Her hobby was sewing her own clothes. Grace was a gifted, self-taught seamstress since she was 16 years old.
Grace is survived by a son, Edward Getchey and his wife, Michelle, of Coal Township; a sister, Clara Bartlinski, of Coal Township; three grandchildren, Jason, James and Stefanie Lichty; three great-grandchildren, Jayman and Case Lichty and Alexandrian Hartman; a nephew, Stephen Bartlinski and his wife, Andrea, and their two sons, Owen and Spencer; two brothers-in-law, Robert Getchey and his wife, Susan, of Coal Township, and Barry Getchey and his wife, Roseann, of Shamokin, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband, Grace was preceded in death by a sister, Justine Kraft, in 2010; five siblings in their infancy, and a sister-in-law, Kathleen Polzella.
GETCHEY — Grace A. Getchey, 75, of 1814 Maple Ave., formerly of 117 N. Franklin St., Shamokin, and a resident of Serenity Gardens, Kulpmont, for four years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Mother Cabrini Church, 200 N. Shamokin St. at Webster Street, Shamokin, with a parish friar as celebrant. Relatives and friends attending the Mass are asked to meet at the church at 9:45 a.m. At Grace's request, there will not be a viewing or visitation, and interment of her cremains will be held at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Mother Cabrini Church, 214 N. Shamokin St., Shamokin 17872 or Shamokin-Coal Township Public Library, 210 E. Independence St., Shamokin 17872. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to James Kelley Funeral Home, James F. Kelley, Director, 1001 W. Arch St. at Maple Street, Coal Township.
