PAXINOS - Harold E. Grow, 87, of 107 Marley Road, passed away at 7:17 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27, 2018, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, after suffering a stroke last week.

A beloved husband, father and grandfather, Harold was born in Shamokin, Feb. 16, 1931, a son of the late Francis E. Grow and Florence L. (Mattern) Grow.

Harold was owner/proprietor of Household Appliance Co. in Shamokin for many years. To many in the community, he was known as the "Maytag Man." He retired in 2004.

Harold was a graduate of the Class of 1948 from Shamokin High School.

On Sept. 18, 1957, he was married in St. John's United Church of Christ, Shamokin, to Peggy L. Welker, who survives.

He served in the U.S. Army Reserve during the 1960s.

Harold was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Shamokin, where he sang in the choir, served on church council and taught Sunday school for many years. He was an active member of the Shamokin Masonic Lodge, where he served in many positions in the Blue Lodge, chapter, council and commandery, along with the Red Cross of Constantine. An accomplished oboe player, Harold played for several years with the Williamsport Symphony and the Susquehanna Valley Chorale orchestras. He was also a loyal member of the Shamokin Our Band.

He was a passionate Philadelphia sports fan, watching the Phillies and Eagles games whenever possible. We are so happy he was able to see his Eagles finally win a Super Bowl in February - Fly, Eagles, Fly!

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, along with his daughter, Pamela Keiser and her husband, Nick, of Paxinos; a grandson, Tyler Keiser, at home; nieces and nephews; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Sid and Dottie Gass.

He was preceded in death by his older brother, Lamar Grow; and his sister, Una Parkyn.

GROW - Harold E. Grow, 87, of 107 Marley Road, Paxinos. A funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Grace Lutheran Church, Chestnut and Seventh streets, Shamokin, with the Rev. Sarah V. Hershberger officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Blue Church Cemetery, Paxinos. A visitation will be held at the church prior to the service from 11 to 1 p.m. If desired, contributions in Harold's memory may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, 10 S. Seventh St., Shamokin 17872. Farrow Funeral Directors, Shamokin, is in charge of arrangements.
