KULPMONT – Heather R. Varano, 38, of 34 S. 10th St., "Our Heather," went to fly with the angels on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, after a six month battle with ovarian cancer.

She was born in Ashland Hospital, Jan. 31, 1975, a daughter of Bruno R. Varano, with whom she resided, and Tina Novak, of Sunbury.

She was most recently employed as a reserve lift driver at Wal-Mart Distribution Center, Pottsville.

Heather graduated from Mount Carmel Area High School with the class of 1992.

She was of the Protestant faith.

She was a member of the Jan Sobieski Club, VFW and East End Fire Company, all of Kulpmont, and the Sons of Poland of Mount Carmel.

Heather's favorite place to go was "DA LILY." She loved Kulpmont Cougars and MCA football and baseball, Syracuse basketball and Philadelphia Flyers. She loved taking her nephew, Cody, to the Flyers games and watching him play football and baseball. She loved life and good times. She created her own language we call "Varanic," had a great, dry and sarcastic sense of humor, excelled at "poking fun" of friends and could roll with the best of them. She loved "Sunday Fundays" and always had a blast.

Our "Sunflower" will be forever missed but never forgotten.

In addition to her parents, Heather is survived by her sister, Erika Varano, and "BROTHA" John V. Shustack, of Kulpmont, with whom she stayed during her illness; nephew and godson whom she doted on, Cody J. Shustack, of Penn State, University Park; her "Momma," Annette Habowski, of Kulpmont; maternal grandfather, Leonard Kurpell, of Mahanoy City; maternal great-grandmother, Violet Feudale, of Marion Heights; three aunts, Rosalie Neidig and her husband, Ronald, of Shamokin, Karen Yablonski and her husband, Gino, of Coal Run, and Donna Klischer and her husband, Charles, of Kulpmont; a great aunt, June Kutchen, of Kulpmont; an uncle, Ronald Novak and his wife, Debbie, of Florida; numerous cousins and a "PLETHERA" of great friends.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Bruno and Jean Varano; a maternal grandmother, Alberta Kurpell, and cousins, Robert Brian Yurkiewicz and Courtney Novak.
