SHAMOKIN — Helen A. (Yost) Bickert, 70, of 618 E. Commerce St., passed away Friday evening, April 19, 2013, at her residence.

She was born June 29, 1942, in Coal Township, a daughter of the late Marion (Delong) and Sebastian Yost.

On May 3, 1963 at St. Joseph Church, Coal Township, she married Thomas A. Bickert Sr., who preceded her in death Jan. 3, 2003.

She was a loving mother and homemaker and was of the Catholic faith.

Surviving are four sons, Michael S. Yost, of Shamokin, Louis P. Yost and his wife, Marianne, of Irish Valley, Thomas A. Bickert Jr. and his wife, Rose, of Shamokin, and John P. Bickert, of Shamokin; six grandchildren, Louis, Lena and Nate Yost and Shawn, Jaleesa and Breanna Bickert; three great-grandchildren, Ryan and Rylee Bickert and Evan McElwee, and her next-door neighbor and close friend, Nancy Persing.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Theresa Bickert.

BICKERT — Helen A. (Yost) Bickert, 70, of 618 E. Commerce St., Shamokin. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Northumberland Memorial Park, Garden of Honor, Stonington, with Deacon Robert P. Mack, of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, officiating. There will not be a visitation or viewing. Interment of Helen's cremains will follow the service. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the James Kelley Funeral Home, James F. Kelley, director, 1001 W. Arch St. at Maple Street, Coal Township. As an expression of sympathy, the family requests that memorial donations be made in their care to John P. Bickert, 618 E. Commerce St., Shamokin 17872, to help defray costs. The immediate family extends an invitation to family and friends to join them at 618 E. Commerce St., Shamokin at 2:30 p.m. following the services for fellowship and food/refreshments.
