NEW PHILADELPHIA — James Bartlin Malick, 77, of 163 Valley St., passed away Sunday morning, Dec. 2, 2012, at his home.

Born Dec. 23, 1934, in Kulpmont, he was a son of the late Raymond Franklin and Ruth (Stewart) Malick.
He attended Kulpmont schools.
He was married Feb. 14, 1988, in Christ Church, Schuylkill Haven, to Esther (Ohl-Nester) Malick.
James worked until his retirement as a maintenance man for A&E Plastics in Ringtown.
He was of the Protestant faith.
James was an avid woodworker and gardener who enjoyed taking care of his beautiful roses. He was also an avid NASCAR fan.
Survivors include his wife, Esther; a son, James Malick, of Mahanoy City; three daughters, Barbara Malick, of Mount Carmel, Lorraine Aurand, of Ashland, and Mary Lou Bowers, of Shamokin; five grandchildren; four stepchildren, Kevin and George Nester, Bonnie Waltman, Teresa Marshall and Betty See; 12 stepgrandchildren; 10 stepgreat-grandchildren; a brother, John Malick, of Waynesboro; two sisters, Dorothy Stanitis, of Gordon, and Esther Balok, of Florida, and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a grandson; two sisters, Carol Guise and Ruth Stanitis, and two brothers, Howard and Raymond Malick.
MALICK — A religious funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Joseph J. Stutz Inc., Funeral Home, 40 S. Market St., Mount Carmel, Joseph J. Stutz III, supervisor, with the Rev. Joan Brown officiating. A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home Wednesday. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Mount Carmel Township.
