POTTSVILLE — Janet Mary Greco, 57, of 38 Tall Oaks Drive, passed away Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at her home with her loving family at her side. She courageously battled her illness for seven years.

Born June 3, 1955, in Danville, she was a daughter of Joseph and Anet Thiroway.
On June 19, 1982, she married her high school sweetheart, Dr. Richard A. Greco Sr., who survives.
Janet graduated from Mount Carmel Area High School in 1973, and St. Mary's College, Notre Dame, Ind., in 1977, with a Bachelor of Science in nursing. She was employed as a registered nurse at Shamokin State General Hospital, Coal Township, and Nazareth Hospital, Philadelphia, in the recovery room.
She spent the majority of her life as a stay-at-home mother, raising her two sons who were the pride and joy of her life. Both sons are currently medical students at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Janet was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Pottsville, and the Schuylkill Medical Center Auxiliary. She was also a member of the PA Nurses Association, and spent countless hours volunteering at All Saints Catholic School and Nativity BVM High School.
Janet will be remembered as having a big heart. She was also ready to help anyone in need. She was the life of the party, loved to shop and had a contagious personality, which led her to acquire numerous friends from many walks of life.
In addition to her husband, Janet is survived by two sons, Richard A. Greco Jr. and Michael J. Greco; a sister, Judy D'Angelo, of Selinsgrove; a brother and sister-in-law, Attorney Joseph and Laura Thiroway, of Jamison; a brother-in-law and his wife, Dr. Charles and Sandy Greco, of Fruitland Park, Fla.; a sister-in-law and her husband, Barbara and Joseph Iwanski, of Kulpmont, and a mother-in-law, Mildred R. Greco, of Mount Carmel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon Monday at St. John the Baptist Church, 10th and Mahantongo streets, Pottsville, with the Rev. David J. Loeper as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Mount Carmel. Family and friends will be received from 11 a.m. to noon Monday at the church. The C.J. Lucas Funeral Home, Inc. 27 N.
