COAL TOWNSHIP — Jean M. Culp, 84, of 515 Center St., Apt. A, died Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, at her nephew's residence at 1405 Old Reading Road, Paxinos.

Born in Coal Township Sept. 30, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Stephen Podobinski and Mary Shugalla. Prior to moving back to Shamokin, she lived in Syracuse, N.Y,. for 13 years.
She was a 1947 graduate of the Coal Township High School.
Jean was married in St. Joseph Church, Coal Township, on July 8, 1950, to John Edward Culp, who preceded her in death Feb. 18, 2010.
She worked at the Arrow Shirt Factory as a seamstress, then was employed at Syracuse China in New York and then at the former Crown Lanes, now the Coal Bowl, for 19 years.
She was a member of Mother Cabrini Church.
She was an avid bowler, and bowled until the 2012 season on Mom's Team in the Wednesday Night Mixed League.
Jean is survived by a daughter, Sandy Bressi and husband, Nick, of Palmyra; a sister, Madeline "Maggie" Letcavage, of Coal Township; two grandsons, Stephen Bressi and wife, Kailyn, of Ft. Campbell, Ky., and Anthony Bressi, of Palmyra; a great-granddaughter, Tilyn Bressi, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
CULP — Jean M. Culp, 84, of 515 Center St., Apt. A, Coal Township. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Mother Cabrini Church, Shamokin. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Oct. 15 Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday with a Christian vigil service at 7 p.m., and again from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.
