Dr. John "Cab" Kallaway, 85, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2013.

He was born May 17, 1926, in Shamokin, a son of the late Ella and Sydney Kallaway.
John was a graduate of Shamokin High School, Franklin and Marshall College and Temple University School of Dentistry.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
On March 23, 1963, in the Methodist church in Riverside, he married JoAnn McCloskey, who preceded him in death March 28, 2011.
He practiced dentistry for 48 years, mostly in Shamokin, where he had a practice on Sunbury Street and then on Lincoln Street. He was a well-loved and respected dentist in the area.
Surviving are JoAnn's cousin, Cynthia Hetrick and her husband, Thomas, and her children, Kearstin Hamad and her husband, Christopher, and Chelsea Hetrick. He always enjoyed visits from Kayleigh Hamad and his dog, Snickers.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Sydney, who died in World War II.
