ROUND ROCK, Texas - Joseph "Big Joe" Brian Martin, 63, born Jan. 22, 1955, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to the late Julia Nolter Frisby and the late Richard E Martin, passed away quietly and unexpectedly Sunday Aug. 19, 2018, in Round Rock, Texas.

He recently resided in Kingsland, Texas, but spent his childhood and a large part of his adulthood in Shamokin.

Joseph proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1972 to 1990. He had a respected career as part of the 1st Calvary and 2nd Armored Divisions, as well as having been both an NCO Academy instructor and drill sergeant.

Joe's children and grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life. He will be missed, but not forgotten, and his love of good food, a cold beer and a hearty laugh will live on through them. Joseph was preceded in death by his brother, Nick Martin.

He is survived by three sons, Richard Martin and his wife, Angelica, Justin Martin, and Adam Martin and his wife, Rachael; a daughter, Cheyenne Lambert and her husband, Blake; three sisters, Charlene Martin, Monica Blazina, and Darlis Criniti; and nine grandchildren, Julian, Caleb, Kya, Alex, Regan, Phoebe, Nevaeh, Neeko, and Ellora. He leaves behind a large extended family and many friends that will always remember him and the impact he had on their lives.
