NEWARK, Del. — Joseph L. Bodnar, 69, of Newark, Del., passed away Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012.

Born Sept. 8, 1943, in Shamokin, he was a son of the late George and Rose (Zienda) Bodnar.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Joseph was employed with the Chrysler Corporation at the Newark assembly plant and retired after 25 years of service.

He was a member of St. John's — Holy Angels Parish, and served as an usher at Sunday Mass at St. John the Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Newark Senior Center.

Surviving are three brothers, George, and his wife, Frances, Raymond, and his wife, Maureen, and William; a sister, Rosemary Ernest, and her husband, John, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Albert "Butch."

BODNAR — Joseph L. Bodnar, 69, of Newark, Del. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday at St. John the Baptist Church, Main and Chapel streets, Newark, Del. Interment will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Shamokin. Friends are invited to visit from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Monday at the church. The Doherty Funeral Home, Wilmington, Del., is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Joseph's memory to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 185 Salem Church Road, Newark, Del. 19713.
