HAMBURG — Kenneth J. Zimmerman, 80, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2013, in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

He was born in Mount Carmel, a son of the late Felix and H. Beulah (Knarr) Zimmerman.
He was a 1951 graduate of Mount Carmel High School.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, serving as a medical technician aboard the CVS 36.
Ken was married Oct. 10, 1974, to the former Patricia A. Williamson, who survives. They recently celebrated 38 years of marriage.
He first worked as a cookie and snack salesman. Ken was then the successful owner and operator of the former Jo-Lyn Diner in Leesport from 1973-1985, and various other restaurant enterprises. He was most recently a business partner of Alley Gators II in Gilbertsville.
He was a member of Salem Evangelical Congregational Church, Windsor Township. Ken was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge.
In addition to his wife, Ken is survived by a son, Vaughn P. Zimmerman and his wife, Wendy Engle, of Boyertown; two daughters, Cheryl A. (Zimmerman) Goodwin and her husband, Mark, of Gilbertsville, and Susan K. (Zimmerman) Mickletz and her husband, Ed, of Pottstown; a stepson, Norman R. "Butch" Snyder Jr., of Muhlenberg Township; a stepdaughter, Kathy L. (Snyder) DiSandro and her husband, Joseph, of Hamburg; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and a sister, M. Barb (Zimmerman) Umble and her husband, Nelson, of Carefree, Ariz.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Dr. Lamar Zimmerman and William Zimmerman.
ZIMMERMAN — Kenneth J. Zimmerman, of Hamburg. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Leibensperger Funeral Homes, 223 Peach St., Leesport. Burial will follow in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Fleetwood. Viewings will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wesleyan Christian Church, 1301 Hilltop Road, Pottstown, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
