THARPTOWN — M. Marie Kahler, 84, of 816 Center St., Coal Township, passed away at home at 7 a.m. Friday, May 3, 2013.

She was born in Herndon, March 30, 1929, a daughter of the late Lottie (Schreffler) and Harvey Schlegel.
Marie was a 1946 graduate of Upper Mahanoy Township High School.
On Aug. 14, 1948, in Maryland, she married Arnold Wayne Kahler, who passed away April 1, 1990.
She worked as a seamstress for Arrow Shirt Co.
She was of the Methodist faith, and was a member of the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union.
Surviving are a son, David Kahler and his wife, Jen, of Spring Grove; two grandchildren, Danielle Kahler, of Richmond, Va., and Molly Kahler, of Sunbury; a daughter-in-law, Micki Kahler, of Sunbury, and a sister, Mae Wolfe, of Lititz.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert Kahler, on Jan. 1, 1994; a sister, Edna, and a brother, Daniel.
KAHLER — M. Marie Kahler, 84, of 816 Center St., Tharptown, Coal Township. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Farrow Funeral Home, Sixth and Chestnut streets, Shamokin, with the Rev. Betty Ford officiating. Burial will be in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. Wednesday until time of service at the funeral home. Donations in Marie's name may be made to Mostly Mutts, 284 Little Mountain Road, Sunbury 17801.
