ELYSBURG — Martha Anascavage, 87, of 20 E. Mill St., died Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

She was born in Shamokin, July 6, 1926, a daughter of the late Anthony and Cecilia (Graykoskie) Grego.
She also resided in Frederick, Md.
Marth was a registered nurse who worked for many years at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
On Dec. 27, 1951, in St. Stephen Church, Coal Township, she married Chester T. Grego, who preceded her in death Aug. 23, 1995.
She graduated from Coal Township High School and received her nursing training at St. Agnes School of Nursing, Philadelphia.
She was a member of Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Church, Elysburg.
Martha was an avid book reader who completed several books a day. She loved to work crossword puzzles that she would complete in minutes. She also played scrabble proficiently to the point her playing could be compared to a professional.
She had wonderful support for many years by all her neighbors and local family members.
Martha and her sons deeply appreciated the daily visits, conversations and assistance given to her by them.
She lived alone, but was not lonely because of the good friends and neighbors that made all the difference in the world and allowed her to enjoy a happy life.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas Anascavage, of San Antonio, Texas, and Gregory Anascavage and his wife, Cheryl, of Irvin, Calif., and six grandchildren, Shawn, Jordan, Tiffany, Bill, Bob and Blake Anascavage.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Grego, and a sister, Helen Campton.
ANASCAVAGE — Martha Anascavage, 87, of 20 E. Mill St., Elysburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Church, Elysburg. Inurnment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Bear Gap. Visitation will be held in Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Church from 9 a.m. until time of the Mass Friday. Leonard J. Lucas Funeral Home, Ltd., 120 S. Market St., Shamokin, has charge of arrangements.
