SUNBURY — Mary "Mecca" Kandrot, 86, formerly of 905 Spruce St., Kulpmont, passed away in her sleep Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at Golden LivingCenter, Sunbury, where she was recently a resident.

Born in Atlas, April 11, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Wasil and Tekla (Gella) Melnick.
She was a 1944 graduate of the former Locust Gap High School.
On April 25, 1946, in St. Michael's Orthodox Church, Mount Carmel, she was married by the Rev. Andrew Dedick to Anthony Kandrot, who preceded her in death June 18, 1994.
She was employed in area cigar factories and later as a nurse's aide at Geisinger and Shamokin hospitals.
She was a member of St. Michael's Russian Orthodox Church, where she was a choir member. She was also a member of the Kulpmont American Legion Auxiliary, West End Fire Co. and Jan Sobieski Society, all of Kulpmont.
Surviving are five children, Edward Kandrot, and his wife, Kathy, of Shiremanstown, Mary Ann Dudash, and her husband, Donald, of Easton, Anthony Kandrot, and his wife, Deborah, of Paxinos, Gloria Phenicie, and her husband, Paul, of Ephrata, and Nancy Kaminsky, and her husband, Bernard, of Kulpmont, as well as 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters, John Melnick, Antoinette Marzari, Peter "Chick" Melnick, Constantine "Mickey" Melnick, Alex "Figo" Melnick and Anna "Hancha" Horvath.
KANDROT — Mary "Mecca" Kandrot, 86, formerly of 905 Spruce St., Kulpmont. Relatives, friends and neighbors are invited to attend a funeral service 10 a.m. Friday at St. Michael's Orthodox Church, 131 N. Willow St., Mount Carmel, with the Very Rev.
