DANVILLE — Mildred E. Mihalik, 97, of 600 Schoolhouse Road, passed away at 8:15 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at the Emmanuel Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Born Dec. 9, 1916, in Erie, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Julia (Vanyo) Hornyak. She moved to Shamokin in 1935 and lived at 16 Ann Drive, Danville, from 1996 until nine months ago.
She attended school in Erie.
On Oct. 2, 1935, in Erie, she married Andrew Joseph Mihalik, who preceded her in death.
She was employed for 30 years as a seamstress and inspector for the Arrow Shirt Company.
While living in Shamokin, she was a member of the former St. Mary Church, now Mother Cabrini Church.
Surviving are two sisters, Alice Ester (Charles) of Glendale, Ariz., and Margaret Whitney, of Erie; a daughter-in-law, Patty Mihalik of Rotunda, Fla.; six grandchildren, Andrea Mihalik, of Haddonfield, N.J., Maria Mihalik, of McLean, Va., Mary Mihalik, of McLean, Va., Barbara O'Donnell, of Malvern, Anne McConnell, of Virginia Beach, Va. and Stephen Mihalik, of Waterville, Minn.; 16 great-grandchildren, Grayson Kohs, of Haddonfield, N.J., Cameron Kohs, of Haddonfield, N.J., Sophia Kohs, of Haddonfield, N.J., Emmaline Higgins, of Ellicott City, Md., Jonathan O'Donnell, of West Chester, Daniel O'Donnell, of Fairfax, Va., Katlyn McConnell, of La Cicba, Honduras, Allison McConnell Griffin, of St. Petersburg, Fla., Riane McConnell, of Virginia Beach, Va., Rebeka Mihalik, of Waterville, Minn,, Christina Mihalik, of Waterville, Minn., Malinda Mihalik Younce, of Bear, Del., Jennifer Mihalik Pierce, of Newark, Del., Pamela Mihalik Logan, of Wilmington, Del., Joshua Mihalik, of Elkton, Md. and Joseph Mihalik, of Wilmington, Del., and eight great-great-grandchildren, Allison, Joseph and Shane Younce, of Bear, Del., Kenneth Pierce IV and Elizabeth Pierce, of Newark, Del., Donovan and Cassidy Logan, of Wilmington, Del., and Makii Mihalik, of Elkton, Md.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Joseph Albert in 2000 and Andrew Joseph in 2003; three siblings, Andrew Hornyak, Irene Poluha and Joseph Hornyak, and a grandson, Joseph Mihalik, in 1996.
MIHALIK — Mildred E. Mihalik, 97, of 600 Schoolhouse Road, Danville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Mother Cabrini Church, Shamokin. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Coal Township. Viewing will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Friday in the Leonard J. Lucas Funeral Home, 120 S. Market St., Shamokin.
