ELYSBURG - Norma E. (Pensyl) Ackerson , 88, of Elysburg, passed away peacefully in her home Thursday, Aug. 30, 2018.

Born July 30, 1933, Norma spent nearly her entire 85 years living in Elysburg, the community she loved.

Norma retired from the Geisinger School of Nursing after 30 years of service working as the secretary to the directress of nursing.

She continued to busy herself by spending summers working at Knoebels with her husband, Bim. They were avid antique collectors who enjoyed the hunt as much as the finds!

For many years, she and Bim could be found on Sundays picnicking at home with friends and family. Norma was a wonderful cook and baker, and thrived on feeding her family. Her apple pie was hands down the best and was the most often requested dessert she made. In her later years when family came to visit, Norma loved to suggest a breakfast at Massers and she'd slyly pay the bill, much to her guests objection.

Surviving are four children from her first marriage to James Green, Gaye Kauwell and her husband, Gary, of Reading, Jimye Green and his companion, Cindy Angle, of Hershey, Kelly Green and wife, Priscilla, of Catawissa, and Heidi Egitto and fiance, Omar Chaljub, of Ocala, Florida; eight grandchildren, Carol Kauwell Jones, Rick Steele, Amy Steele, Jennifer Green, Corey Green, Ryan Green, Anthony Egitto and Alex Egitto. She was also a proud great - grandmother of eight.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 29 years, Bim (William) Ackerson; and a son, Richard Green.
