LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. — Peter J. Kachinoski passed away peacefully Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at his home while under the care of family and hospice.

Born in Shamokin, he was a son of the late William and Bogumila (Marciniak) Kachinoski.

Peter moved to Niagara Falls, N.Y., where he married Dolores Dabrowski, who preceded him in death after 53 years of marriage.

Pete's strong work ethic made him a successful businessman as owner and operator of Pete's New and Used Furniture, Wayfarer's Inn and Kach's Corner. Upon retirement, Pete moved to Florida and then on to Arizona.

Pete thoroughly enjoyed life with family and friends. He loved to "make a deal" buying and selling, and enjoyed playing his kazoo, watching FOX News, sharing his homemade Irish Cream, tipping with a $2 bill and polka music. Friends and family looked forward to his "polka" birthday celebration every year.

Survivors include his four children, Patricia (John) Fitzpatrick, of Wheatfield, N.Y., Nancy (Edward) Murgia, of Yorktown Heights, N.Y., Sandra (Rick) Bilodeau, of Rockledge, Fla., and Peter (Deborah) Kachinoski Jr., of Cape Coral, Fla.; grandchildren, John (Tracy) Fitzpatrick, Jennifer (Doug) Elia, Ann (Matt) Courts, Sarah (Josh) Heim, Alissa Murgia, Janna (Jack) Murgia Hoppin, Danielle Simmons and Heather Bilodeau; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Anna Burba, of Perkiomenville; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Pete was preceded in death by seven brothers, William, John, Joseph, Raymond, Stanley, Frank and Adolph Kachinoski, and five sisters, Helen Kachinoski, Clara Anderson, Bertha Kohan, Violet Dudeck and Victoria Zarko.
