GORDON — Robert C. Wolfgang, 89, of Gordon, passed away Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Schuylkill Medical Center South, Pottsville.

Born Oct. 25, 1923, in Butler Township, he was a son of the late Daniel and Mary (Minnich) Wolfgang.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart.

He married Mae Robbins Wolfgang, who preceded him in death in 1995.

He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Ashland.

Robert was a past commander of the Gordon AMVETS Post No. 44, a life member of the NRA, the North American Fishing Club, the North American Hunting Club, the World War II Memorial Society and the Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge of World War II. He was also a member of the Citizens Fire Co., of Gordon, Military Order of the Purple Heart and the Tri-Valley CB Club.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Thomas, Lloyd, Donald and Albert Wolfgang, and a sister, Jean Furman.

WOLFGANG — Robert C. Wolfgang, 89, of Gordon. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home, Ashland, with the Rev. Dana Heckman-Beil officiating.
