ASHLAND — Robert J. Hoskie, 61, of 649 Big Mine Run Road, passed away Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at Schuylkill Medical Center, South Jackson Street, Pottsville.

He was born in Centralia, March 29, 1951, a son of the late John Hoskie and Catherine I. (Lute) Hoskie, who survives.
He attended Ashland and Mount Carmel schools.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He received the following medals during his service to his country: Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Bronze Star Medal and Silver Star.
Robert was married in Ashland, Aug. 26, 1977, to the former Virginia Beckno, who preceded him in death Dec. 2, 2009.
He had been employed as a construction worker and forklift operator before becoming ill.
He was a member of the Centralia American Legion Post 608 and the Centralia Fire Company.
In addition to his mother, Robert is survived by five sisters, Roseann Bird, of Big Mine Run, Kathleen Hummel and her husband, Dennis, of Kulpmont, Patricia Nork and her husband, Frank, of Shenandoah Heights, Eileen Buehl and her husband, Thomas, of Lavelle, and Linda Ennis, of Shenandoah; two brothers, Charles Hoskie, of Big Mine Run, and Joseph Hoskie and his wife, Mary, of Mahanoy Plane, and several nieces and nephews.
HOSKIE — Robert J. Hoskie, 61, of 649 Big Mine Run Road, Ashland. Prayer and Scripture service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Joseph J. Stutz Inc. Funeral Home, 40 S. Market St., Mount Carmel, with the Rev. Francis Karwacki officiating. Interment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of the service Tuesday in the funeral home. Joseph J. Stutz III, supervisor, is in charge of the arrangements.
