SHAMOKIN — Ronald C. Haggerty, 72, of 631 E. Chestnut St., formerly of 1222 Pulaski Ave., Coal Township, passed away Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at home.

Born in Shamokin Jan. 30, 1941, he was a son of the late Raymond and Mary (Rhodes) Haggerty.

Ronald married Mary Theresa Albert on Nov. 28, 1964, in St. Stanislaus Church.

Ronald worked at Geisinger Medical Center from 1970 to 1971, and then at Shamokin State Hospital from 1971 until retirement, as an orderly.

In addition to Theresa, his wife of 48 years, he is survived by a son, Ronald C. Haggerty Jr. and his fiancé, Sandy Radziewicz, of Shamokin; a daughter, Mary Yost and her husband Bill Sr., with whom he resided; six grandchildren, Billy and his companion Christine, Kathleen and her companion Jordan, Kailee and her companion Matt, Sueellen, Johnathon and his companion Jen, and Kristin and her husband Jason; five great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and two sister-in-laws; Dorothy Haggerty and Virginia Albert.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Renee Haggerty, at infancy, a brother, Raymond Haggerty Jr.; two sisters, Betty Strausser and Joyce Bowers, and three brother-in-laws, Jimmy Strausser, Edward Albert and Clarence Bowers.


HAGGERTY — Ronald C. Haggerty, 72, of 631 E. Chestnut St., Shamokin, formerly of 1222 Pulaski Ave., Coal Township. Committal services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Coal Township, with Deacon Robert Mack officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to the DaVita Dialysis, 103 W. State Route 61, Mount Carmel. An online guest book can be signed at The Leonard J. Lucas Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
