COAL TOWNSHIP — Rosemarie R. (Stankunas) Petroskie, 77, of Mountain View: A Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 2050 Trevorton Road, for the past five years and formerly of Route 890, Sunbury, passed away Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital, Coal Township.

She was born July 25, 1935, to the late Benjamin and Helen (Rokuskie) Stankunas.

She attended St. Edward's School and completed her education at Our Lady of Lourdes High School.

Rosemarie married the late Leo Petroskie Jr., April 17, 1954, at St. Joseph's Church, Coal Township.

Rosemarie worked as a floor lady at Shroyer's for many years. She also worked at the Arrow Shirt Factory and Stitches in Trevorton.

She was a great cook who loved to swim and go down to the shore. She enjoyed her family. She was always there to help family and friends. She was liked by everyone she came into contact with. She had a kind and caring heart and was very witty.

I am proud and lucky to have had her for my mother, per Debra. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Surviving are a daughter, Deborah Hine, of East Cameron; two granddaughters, Megan Rose Hine and Amanda Hine; a great-granddaughter, Hailey Rose Dorney; a sister, Betty Joy and her husband, Michael, of Gloucester, N.J.; a brother, Joseph Stankunas, of Gloucester, N.J., and a godson, Michael Joy, of New Jersey.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Petroskie, in 2001; two brothers, Benjamin and Michael, and four sisters, Margie, Elizabeth, Madelyn and Mary.

PETROSKIE — Rosemarie R. Petroskie, 77, of Mountain View: A Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 2050 Trevorton Road, Coal Township, for the past five years and formerly of Route 890, Sunbury. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Hope Church, 863 W. Chestnut St., Coal Township, with the Rev. Ray Orloski as celebrant. Calling hours will be from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. Friday at Leonard J. Lucas Funeral Home Ltd., 120 S. Market St., Shamokin. A committal service will follow Mass at Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington. Leonard J. Lucas Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
