SUNBURY — Samuel C. Stahl, 86, of Sunbury, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2014, at ManorCare Health Services, Sunbury. He joins his wife, Dorothy, and his son, Robert E. Stahl, in heaven.

Born in Northumberland, March 31, 1928, he was a son of the late Elmer and Wilamina Stahl.
On Dec. 23, 1945, he married the former Dorothy M. Kipple, who preceded him in death in 1993.
Samuel spent most of his life working for the Pennsylvania Railroad, and his fascination with trains lasted long after his railroad career was over. He was later employed by Cole's Hardware in Northumberland until his retirement in 1992.
He attended God's Missionary Church, Sunbury.
Surviving are four children, Mary Keim, of Danville, Samuel C. Stahl Jr., of Danville, Ronald Stahl and his wife, Sue, of Sunbury, and Cathy Shingara and her husband, Mark, of Sunbury. Sam and Dorothy were also like parents to their grandchildren which include Kathy Anne Swartzlander, of Sunbury, Sylvia Long, of Danville, Rose Young, of Middleburg, and Ronald Swartzlander, of Danville. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, along with three brothers, Timothy, Edward and George Stahl, all of Sunbury.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert E. Stahl.
STAHL — Samuel C. Stahl, 86, of Sunbury. A viewing will be held 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at God's Missionary Church, Sunbury, followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in the Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington. Arrangements by the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, Sunbury.
