HAVERTOWN — Stella A. Bridy, 89, of Havertown, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013.

She was born Feb. 2, 1924, in Mount Carmel, a daughter of the late Joseph and Concetta Procopio.

She was a graduate of Mount Carmel Catholic High School.

On March 21, 1942, in Savannah, Ga., she married Albert D. Bridy, also of Mount Carmel. Together, Stella and Albert had 13 children, 22 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She and her husband resided in Mount Carmel, Harrisburg and then Havertown. In the 1970s, they spent two years living in Tehran, Iran. After a marriage of 53 years, Albert preceded Stella in death Nov. 26, 1995.

In Havertown, Stella worked as a real estate agent.

Stella volunteered for various Catholic charities throughout her life. She was a long-time member of Annunciation Catholic Church and was a devoted member of the Legion of Mary. She was an avid bridge player, bowler and crossword puzzler.

Surviving are 11 of her children, Susanna Winters, Pauline Wagner, Carolyn Kielec, Ellen Bridy, Sylvia McCullough, Paul, Robert, Joseph, Michael, Angela Pappas and Annemarie; all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Mary Sawicki and Florence Arnoldin, both of Atlas.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, John, a daughter, Jane, and six siblings, Adeline, Josephine, Belmont, Albert, Anthony and Louisa.

BRIDY — Stella A. Bridy, 89, of Havertown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Divine Redeemer Church, 438 W. Avenue, Mount Carmel. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery, Mount Carmel. Viewing will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Stutz Funeral Home, 40 S. Market St., Mount Carmel. Arrangements are being handled by the Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory would be appreciated to Catholic Charities, 222 N. 17th St., Philadelphia 19103, or the , 150 Monument Road, Suite 100, Bala Cynwyd 19004.
