SHAMOKIN — Theodore R. "Ding" Yost, 79, of 5887 Route 225, Hunter Station, passed away Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at his residence with his loving family by his side.

Born in Trevorton, July 21, 1933, he was a son of the late William and Beatrice (Brubaker) Yost.

On Dec. 23, 1958, in Shamokin, he married the former Daisy M. Shingara, who survives.

Theodore was a resident of Hunter Station for the past 36 years.

He attended Trevorton schools and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1955 to 1962.

He retired as a track supervisor for Conrail Railroad.

He was of the Protestant faith.

Theodore was a member of Trevorton American Legion Post 92, Trevorton VFW Post 7813 and West End Fire Co., Shamokin.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, and was an avid collector and hunter.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three sons and daughters-in-law, Theodore R. Jr. and April Yost, of Shamokin, Frank and Grace Yost and Philip and Chandra Yost, all of Coal Township; two daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and John Wasilewski, and Charlene and Richard Sulouff, all of Coal Township; 22 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Frank Yost Sr., of Coal Township, and Ralph and Doreen Yost, of Sinking Springs; a sister and brother-in-law, Hilda and Lee Dunkelberger, of Paxinos; three sisters-in-law, Christine Yost, of Trevorton Road, and Doris and Janice Yost, both of Coal Township.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Elwood and Jack Yost; a sister, Betty Shingara, and two nephews, Billy Yost and Frank Yost Jr.


YOST — Theodore R. "Ding" Yost, 79, of 5887 state Route 225, Hunter Station. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Augustaville Wesleyan Church, Route 890, Paxinos, with his son, Pastor Ted Yost Jr., officiating. Viewing will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the church. Burial with military honors will be in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington. In lieu of flowers, donation's in Theodore's memory may be made to Veterans Memorial Fund, c/o Trevorton American Legion, 527 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton 17881. Robert G. Foust Jr. Funeral Home, Trevorton, has charge of arrangements.
