Born in Shamokin, Oct. 15, 1939, he was a son of the late Leroy and Anna (Emerick) Latshaw.

He was educated in Mount Carmel Township School in Locust Gap.

He joined the U.S. Army at the age of 16, serving two tours of duty during the Vietnam War. He was discharged, attaining the rank of E5.

He was employed as a coal miner, worked on construction with Local 158-Labor Unit and retired as a heavy equipment operator from the cogeneration plant in Marion Heights. After retirement, he worked as a site manager for his son's company conducting deployment training for the military.

He was a member of the Mount Carmel American Legion and was active in various sports, including playing softball for Pinamonti's softball team.
