MOUNT CARMEL — Wanda Smith, 86, of 6 E. Fourth St., passed away Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at Mount Carmel Senior Living Center.

She was born Feb. 28, 1926, in Williamsport, a daughter of the late Verne and Florence (Wynn) Carson.

She was a 1943 graduate of Mount Carmel High School.

She was married to Ralph U. Smith, who died Sept. 15, 2003.

Wanda was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church in Mount Carmel, where she was a member of the Methodist Women and a former Bible school teacher.

She also was a member of the Anthracite Citizens Theater Board and participated in many of its productions.

Wanda was a member of the Mount Carmel Elks Auxiliary.

She worked for Bell Telephone in the Philadelphia and Mount Carmel areas and was employed at First National Bank and Mount Carmel Area Public Library.

Her granddaughter and great-grandchildren were her loves in life.

Survivors include a daughter, Karen W. Smith, of Lancaster; a granddaughter, Samantha Huffman and her husband, Dustin, of Lancaster, and two great-granddaughters, Anabelle and Lilly.

SMITH — Wanda Smith, 86, of 6 E. Fourth St., Mount Carmel. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, in the Willard A. Rothermel Funeral Home, 120 S. Market St., Mount Carmel, Ray W. Rothermel, director. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mount Carmel Area Public Library and/or First United Methodist Church, Mount Carmel.
