GIRARDVILLE — William E. Dando, 81, of Girardville, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013.

Born Oct. 8, 1931, he was a son of the late William E. and Catherine C. (Sener) Dando. He was a lifelong resident of Girardville.

William was a graduate of St. Joseph's High School, Girardville.

He married Claire A. (McDonald) Dando, who survives. His passing ends a marital union of 60 years.

He was retired from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania at Fort Indiantown Gap.

William was a faithful member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the Sons of Italy Lodge, A.O.H. Jack Kehoe Division, Knights of Columbus, Good Fellowship Club, and Notre Dame Club of Schuylkill County.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by eight children, Claire Salukas, and her husband, Josie, of Girardville, William B. Dando, and his wife, Jane, of Harrisburg, Tim Dando, and his wife, Jean, of Girardville, Jack Dando, of Girardville, Cathy Dyszel, of Girardville, Patty Gregas, and her husband, Anthony, of Homesville, Sandy Selgrade, and her husband, Todd, of Girardville, and Michael Dando, of Hershey; 22 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Stephen, in 1966; a sister, Dorothy, and a brother, Jack.

DANDO — William E. Dando, 81, of Girardville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Church, Girardville. Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Fountain Springs. Relatives and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at the church.
