SCRANTON — Wilson "Tom" Krewson Jr., 88, formerly of Mount Carmel, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at Regional Hospital of Scranton under the care of Commonwealth Hospice of Northeastern Pennsylvania.

Born in Elkins Park, he was the only son of the late Wilson and Alma (Mincher) Krewson.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Minersville.

Tom graduated from Cheltenham High School and was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II from 1943 to 1945.

In August 1980, he married the former Lucille Gleason, who preceded him in death May 1, 2012.

Tom was a sixth-generation carpenter but also spent time working as a railroad conductor. He thoroughly enjoyed life with family and friends. He loved his daughters and enjoyed hunting, football, good cigars and spending time with the boys at the "shop."

Surviving are two daughters, Elizabeth Krewson-Ross and her husband, Christopher, and Jill Krewson, of Elysburg; two stepdaughters, Shawn Lynch, of Adamsdale, and Valerie Chandler, of Shillington; six grandchildren, Hayden and Aislen Krewson-Ross, Reagan Krewson, Roan Lynch and Ian and Liam Chandler, and six nieces.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Samuel Rush Krewson, who died in infancy.


KREWSON — Wilson "Tom" Krewson Jr., 88, formerly of Mount Carmel. A religious funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc., 104 S. Fourth St., Minersville. Friends are invited to attend a visitation at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. today. Interment will be in Mount Peace Cemetery, Minersville.
