HUMMELSTOWN — Thomas Brinkach Sr., 74, of 55 Grandview Drive, died at home Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012.

Born in Mount Carmel, Sept. 17, 1938, he was a son of the late John "Lefty" and Emma (Reed) Brinkash.
He attended Mount Carmel schools.
Thomas served the U.S. Army for more than 20 years before retiring as a staff sergeant. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having received the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, two overseas bars, a Commendation Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry and Good Conduct Medal (fifth award).
On Aug. 22, 1959, in St. Paul's Church, Atlas, he married the former Gilda Raynal, who survives.
He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Church, Hershey, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2110 and American Legion Post 804, both of Mount Carmel.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Thomas Brinkach Jr., of York; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carrie and Joseph Kugle, of Hummelstown, with whom Thomas lived, and Sherry and Paul Gessaman, of Middletown; three grandchildren, Jim Criniti, Larissa Brinkach and Elizabeth Kugle; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Carol and Michael Panko, of Wilburton, and Pauline and James Dunn, of Mount Carmel; a brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Maureen Brinkash, of Locust Gap, and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Brinkach.
BRINKACH — Thomas Brinkach Sr., 74, of 55 Grandview Drive, Hummelstown. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at Church of Our Lady, Mount Carmel, with the Rev. Francis Karwacki officiating. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Bear Gap. Viewing will be from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at Joseph J. Stutz Inc. Funeral Home, 40 S.
