MOUNT CARMEL — Jennie M. Balon, formerly of 107 Clermont St., Marion Heights, passed away Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, while a resident of Mount Carmel Senior Living Community.

Born in Kulpmont, May 2, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Mary (Paszewska) and Paul Lechniak.

She attended Marion Heights schools.

Jennie was married in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church Feb. 19, 1938, to Charles Balon, who preceded her in death in August 1994.

She was employed as a factory worker finisher in local factories.

She was a former member of Our Lady of Perptual Help Church, now Church of the Holy Angels. She was also a member of the Kulpmont Senior Citizens, Kulpmont Legion Ladies Auxillary, AARP, Marion Heights Fire Company and Polish Cultural Club.

Her passion was gathering family and friends and keeping them close.

Jennie is survived by two sons, Charles Balon, and his wife, Sally, of Wilkes-Barre, and Thomas Balon, and his wife, Pat, of Tioga; a daughter, Virginia Brennan, of Pottstown; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Anthony Lechniak, of New Jersey, and Walter Lechniak, of Williamsport, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, David; three brothers, John, Alexander and Joseph, and three sisters, Laura, Josephine and Helen.

BALON — Jennie M. Balon, formerly of 107 Clermont St., Marion Heights. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of the Holy Angels, 855 Scott St., Kulpmont, with the Rev. Andrew Stahmer as celebrant. Burial will be in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetary, Marion Heights. A viewing will be held from 9 until 10:30 a.m. Tuesday with Transferral Prayers at 10:15 a.m. at the CJ Lucas Funeral Home, 1053 Chestnut St., Kulpmont. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Marion Heights Fire Company, 418 E. Warsaw St., Marion Heights.
