Arthur W. Tobias, 97, of Pine Grove, formerly of Tremont, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013 at Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Tremont, Dec. 12, 1915, he was a son of the late Henry and Eva Hentz Tobias.
Arthur was a graduate of Tremont High School and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Tremont.
Arthur was a private first class during World War II with the 339th Infantry Regiment, 85th Infantry Division. He received the Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Service Medal, EAME Theater Service Medal with three Bronze Stars, Bronze Star Medal and World War II Victory Medal.
He had been employed as a manager for the former Fox-Knapp Mfg.
Arthur was a member of Tremont American Legion and had been a former Boy Scout leader. He loved doing jigsaw puzzles and was known as the "Puzzle King."
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Ruby L. Stutzman Tobias, in 2011, and a sister, May Felty.
Surviving are son, Donald and his wife, Janet Tobias, Collegeville; and two granddaughters, Stephanie Tobias and Jacqueline Tobias.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 10 at H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, with the Rev. Maureen Duffy-Guy officiating. There will be a viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Friedens Lutheran Cemetery, Hegins. The family would prefer, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to either St. John's Lutheran Church, 6 W. Main St., Tremont, PA 17981, or to Schoolyard Square, 11 High St., Pine Grove, PA 17963, in his memory.
