ASHLAND — John "Jack" Pitts, 62, of Ashland, passed away Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, at his home in Barry Township.

He was born in Ashland, Nov. 28,, 1950, a son of the late Lloyd and Edna (Quick) Pitts.

He was a very active member of Christ Evangelical Church, Lavelle.

Jack graduated from North Schuylkill High School in 1968 and attended Stevens Trade School.

He was a U.S. Army veteran who served his country for three years. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Ashland.

Jack worked at Gould Pumps Company for 33 years until his retirement and had a part-time electrical business known as Pitts Electric.

Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Marsha (Cappel) Pitts; a brother, Ronald Pitts; sisters-in-law Nadine Cappel Smith and Nelda Cappel Chappell, both of Lavelle; three brothers-in-law, Mark Cappel, of Lavelle, Philip Cappel, of Rockville, Md., and Frank Cappel, of Armond Beach, Fla.; two godchildren, Michael and Matthew Shuey, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by half-sisters Doris Pitts and June Gressens, and an aunt, Mildred Quick Mueller.

PITTS — John "Jack" Pitts, 62, of Ashland. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday from the Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home, Ashland, with the Rev. Michael Eck officiating. Interment will be in Citizens Cemetery, Lavelle. Viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to Christ Congregational Church, P.O. Box 202, Lavelle 17943.
