SHAMOKIN — Michael B. Hanko, 25, of 123 S. Shamokin St., passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, at his residence.

Born July 19, 1988, in Berwick, he was a son of Michelle A. (Thivierge) Weikel, of Coal Township and John M. Hanko, of Drums.
Michael was a 2006 graduate of Shamokin Area High School.
Surviving are three sisters, Saraia Hanko, Ashley Hanko and Shelby McCloskey; a brother, Chase Backes; his maternal grandparents, James and Nora Thivierge of Berwick; his paternal grandparents, John and Mary Hanko, of Berwick; a daughter, Mikaela Sara Ann Hanko; a son, Jayden Hanko, and aunts, uncles and cousins.
HANKO — Michael B. Hanko, 25, of 123 S. Shamokin St., Shamokin. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Farrow Funeral Home, 240 W. Chestnut St., Shamokin, with the Rev. Karyn Fisher presiding. A viewing will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to Michelle Weikel, 1323 W. Arch St., Coal Township 17866.
