SHAMOKIN — Mary "Mamie" Roma, 95, formerly of 817 Apple St., passed away Thursday evening, April 24, 2014, at Mountain View: A Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Coal Township.

She was born in Shamokin, June 14, 1918, a daughter of the late Frank and Josephine (Alfanono) Roma.
Mary was a member of Mother Cabrini Church, Shamokin.
Some of her happiest times were spent with family and friends at her home. Her greatest pleasure was baking and serving coffee and goodies to her visitors. She always enjoyed everyone's company.
She will be missed by her family, which includes a brother, Rocco Roma and his wife, Forchy, of Coal Township; three sisters, Clara Angelo, of Shamokin, Emily Laczkoskie, of Bridgeport, Conn., and Mildred Laczkoskie, of West Cameron Township, and nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by twin brothers, Frank and Carmen Roma.
ROMA — Mary "Mamie" Roma, 95, formerly of 817 Apple St., Shamokin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mother Cabrini Church, Shamokin. Interment will follow in St. Edward's Cemetery, Coal Township. Viewing will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Stephen A. Chowka Funeral Home, 114 N. Shamokin St., Shamokin. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Mother Cabrini Church, 214 N. Shamokin St., Shamokin 17872.
