Helen M. Kandybowski, 90, of Williamstown, died Friday, May 9, 2014 at Harrisburg Hospital.

Born May 23, 1923, she was a daughter of the late John and Helen Kanuck Hrinda.
Helen retired as a seamstress from the local garment industry.
She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church and its Parish Council of Catholic Women. She was also a social member of Williamstown American Legion.
Helen enjoyed crocheting and making ceramic Slovakian Easter eggs. Helen will be remembered for her devotion to her family.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Stanley, 1989; son-in-law, George Merwine; great-granddaughter, Helen R. Merwine; sister, Mary Kandybowski; and brother, Michael Hrinda.
Surviving are seven children, Patricia Merwine, Williamstown, Theresa Henry (Fred), Harrisburg, Robert Kandybowski (Viola), Port Trevorton, James Kandybowski (Debra) and Steven Kandybowski (Sue), both of Clarks Valley, Stanley Kandybowski Jr., Allentown, and Helen Kohr (Jeffrey), Williamstown; a sister, Anna Merikas, Millersburg; a brother, John Hrinda, Williamstown; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 13 from Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Williamstown, with the Rev. C. Anthony Miller as celebrant. Interment was in the parish cemetery. A viewing was held Monday, May 12 at the Chapel of Dimon Funeral Homes Inc., Tower City.
