ELIZABETHTOWN — Ruth Norma Prosser, 86, of Elizabethtown, died Thursday, June 5, 2014, at the Masonic Village.

She was born in Shamokin, Feb. 15, 1928, a daughter of the late Frank and Mary E. (Fiebig) Zacker.

Ruth was a 1945 graduate of Shamokin High School and was also a graduate of the Philadelphia General Hospital School of Nursing.

She was the wife of John D. Prosser, of Elizabethtown. Together they celebrated nearly 64 years of marriage.

She worked as a registered nurse for the Philadelphia VAN, the York VNA, Columbia Hospital and as a private-duty nurse.

Ruth was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church. She was in the York Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 169, and the Order of Rainbow for Girls where she served as mother advisor and district deputy.

In addition to her husband, Ruth is survived by a daughter, Mary L. Vauthier and her husband, David, of Lititz, and two granddaughters, Samantha Walton and her husband, Aaron, of Lancaster, and Rachael Dugan and her husband, Jared, of Waldorf, Md.

She was preceded in death by a son, John R. Prosser.

PROSSER — Ruth Norma Prosser, 86, of Elizabethtown. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Calvary United Methodist Church, 11 N. Richland Ave., York, with the Rev. Roland E. Garvin officiating. A viewing will be held Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be private.
