COAL TOWNSHIP — Alverta M. Dapra, 98, of 1650 W. Lynn St., passed away at 5:26 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2014, while in the company of family members at her residence.

Alverta was born in Mowry, March 8, 1916, a daughter of the late Lena (Weidenbacher) and Charles H. Witman.

She was married to Gilbert J. Dapra, who preceded her in death May 31, 1980.

Alverta worked as a seamstress at Morris Fishburn Shirt Factory, Shamokin, for 30 years and retired in 1976. She also cooked for 30 years for the Sisters of I.H.M. at their convent in Coal Township.

She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Hope Church.

Alverta is survived by her loving family, including a son, Richard C. Dapra and his wife, Cathy, of Coal Township; a daughter, Maureen E. Pichola and her husband, Robert, of North Coventry Township; four grandchildren, Wilbur A. Fegley and his wife April, of Harrisburg, Malena A. Kramer and her husband, Scott, of Lancaster, John M. Pichola and his wife, Jennifer, of Chester Springs, Jenifer M. Haines and her husband Dale, of Wynnewood; stepgrandson, James Shutt, of Pittsburgh, and nine great-grandchildren, Jason M. Pichola, of Chester Springs, Christopher Fegley, of Harrisburg, Julia C. Haines, of Wynnewood, Jake R. Pichola, of Chester Springs, Anthony T. Haines, of Wynnewood, Matthew C. Pichola, of Chester Springs, Camille R. Haines, of Wynnewood, Nicholas S. Kramer, of Lancaster, and Nina E. Kramer, of Lancaster.

In addition to her parents and husband, Alverta was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Anita L. and Wilbur L. Fegley.

DAPRA — Alverta M. Dapra, 98, of 1650 W. Lynn St., Coal Township. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at Our Lady Of Hope Church, Coal Township. Family and friends are invited to call at the visitation Friday from 9 to 10:50 a.m. at Our Lady Of Hope Church. Interment will follow Mass at All Saints Cemetery, Bear Gap. As an expression of sympathy, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Sisters Of I.H.M., Renovation Project, Immaculata 19345, or Columbia Montour Home Hospice, 410 Glenn Ave., Suite 200, Bloomsburg 17815. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to James F. Kelley Funeral Home, James F. Kelley, Director, 1001 W. Arch St. at Maple Street, Coal Township 17866.
