COAL TOWNSHIP — Laura E. Schweitzer, 88, of 809 W. Mulberry St., passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital.

Born July 28, 1925, in Shamokin, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Lizzie (Eveland) Schweitzer. She was a lifelong resident of the Shamokin area.

She attended McKinley Elementary School and Coal Township High School.

She was employed in Woolworth's in Shamokin for 25 years and then worked at Shroyer's Dress Factory as a cloth spreader until it closed.

Laura was a member of the Mountainside Assembly of God Church where she was very active in many church activities. She was secretary and treasurer for the Missionaries, enjoyed puzzle books and crocheting and loved spending time with her family and friends.

Surviving are a sister, Nancy Saga, of Coal Township, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Albert Schweitzer.

SCHWEITZER — Laura E. Schweitzer, 88, of 809 W. Mulberry St., Coal Township. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Mountainside Assembly of God Church, Trevorton Road, Coal Township, with Pastor Richard Earl officiating. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Coal Township. As per Laura's wishes, there will be a private viewing for family members and church members only from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church. The Leonard J. Lucas Funeral Home, Ltd., 120 S. Market St., Shamokin, Leonard J. Lucas, Jr., supervisor, has charge of the arrangements.
