ASHLAND — Edith L. Hoffman, 98, of Seventh and Centre streets, Ashland, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at the home of her son in King of Prussia.

Born in Ashland, Dec. 19, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Anna (Strunk) Lane.

She graduated from Ashland High School, class of 1933, and worked as a secretary in the legal and corporate field.

Edith was an avid bridge player enjoyed her Wednesday and Thursday bridge games. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Ashland, and was treasurer of the John Henry Lane Society. She was a member of the Eastern Star and was a past worthy matron. She was a member of the Ashland Historical Society.

Surviving are two sons, John Louis Hoffman, husband of Ann Louise, of King of Prussia, and Jeffery L. Hoffman, husband of Gail, of Gordon; five grandchildren, Jack, Geoff, Kathryn, Allison and Lauren; seven great-grandchildren, Johnny, Julia, Max, Alex, Rory, David and Julia; and nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her husband, John Louis Hoffman III, in 1997; five brothers, Nelson, Franklin, Warren, Chester and Benjamin; and a sister, Gertrude Green.

HOFFMAN — Edith L. Hoffman, 98, of Seventh and Centre streets, Ashland. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Episcopal Church, Ashland, with the Rev. James Smith officiating. Viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home, Ashland, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Interment will be in Christ Church Cemetery, Fountain Springs, at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions can be made to St. John's Episcopal Church, North Parish, P.O. Box 487, Frackville, PA 17931.
