LEWISTOWN — Joanne Marie Tumolo, 41, of 278 W. Fifth St., formerly of Shamokin, passed away Thursday, July 3, 2014. She went peacefully in her sleep and had been ill for the past three years.

She was born Feb. 11, 1973, in Shamokin, a beloved daughter of Joan M. (Fetterolf) and the late Joseph A. Tumolo Sr.

She was a 1991 graduate of Danville High School, Danville, and attended Luzerne County Community College, Shamokin.

She was a former member of Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church, Coal Township, and a member of a Catholic church in Lewistown.

She was a fantastic cook and worked in various restaurants around the area, starting with the Coal's Hardware Restaurant, Danville; The Nooning House, Riverside; the Buckhorn Truck Stop; The Garden Terrace, Elysburg; the Tiffany Lounge, Shamokin; the Wayside Inn, Shamokin; Spruce Street Deli, Shamokin, and her last job, at the Trolley Car Cafe, Lewistown. She also loved to bake.

She was very artistic and loved to draw, and loved books about medieval England. She was also a cat lover.

She traveled around the East Coast and Canada, and also to Rome, Italy, with her parents and twin brothers to meet the Tumolo cousins.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her beloved daughter, Raven Zakashefski; two brothers, Joe Jr., of Shamokin, and Jim and his wife, Sherri, of Orangeville; seven nieces and nephews, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

TUMOLO — Joanne Marie Tumolo, 41, of 278 W. Fifth St., Lewistown, formerly of Shamokin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Hope Church, First and Chestnut streets, Coal Township, with the Rev. Steve Frenier as celebrant. Burial will be at the discretion of the family. A memorial viewing will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass at the church. The Leonard J. Lucas Funeral Home Ltd., Leonard J. Lucas, supervisor, 120 S. Market St., Shamokin, is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Joanne's daughter, Raven Zakashefski, c/o Joan Tumolo, 201 W. Mulberry St., Apt. 703, Shamokin 17872.
